Finally a Het Couple I can Deal with (ft. Keima and Chika)
Trying something new. I've grown weary of my main Obsidian vault. I want a place to take notes on ideas for my stories. Paper doesn't attract to me but it's probably the best idea as a quick catch-all.
ANYWAYS, yesterday while I was putting on my mental home video/daydreaming sesh, something finally clicked.
First, I thought of this NSFW one-shot I wrote for Kinktober. It's an AU where Kiyoshi is a camboy and Keima doesn't know he's ace. I've been thinking on an off of a prompt that would work for a simple visual novel. I haven't finished it but HELL (mature game)'s choices, some which just expanded the text while other's changed the course of the story, fascinated me.
So I was thinking, Keima POV, staring at a laptop where Kiyoshi is performing. Choices are largely linear where the player chooses what Keima suggests what Kiyoshi does.
Then, I expanded the world. In this AU, Keima and Kiyoshi never met because Kiyoshi's parents' never separated. If they never met, then Keima's relationship with Chika never soured. Wait, if he never meets Kiyo, Keima doesn't become an ally of social outcasts. He never befriends Itsuki, the one who taught him about asexuality or Hisako, the first transgirl he ever meets. His friend group throughout his life is totally different! Gasspp!!
Then, as their parents (cough mothers cough) wanted, Keima and Chika must have started dating with the idea of getting married. Keima's opinion of women also doesn't deteriorate as bad as it does in FTL but he never faces the internalized homophobia. All in all, he continues to pass as straight throughout his life.
While he doesn't identify as ace, the repulsion towards sex is ever so strong. The discomfort he feels in his relationship, his reluctance of being intimate with Chika, makes him ask questions. It leads him to consider homosexuality which leads him to porn sites which leads him to Kiyo who's always deeply involved in human sexuality no matter the universe.
So at first I was thinking how can I make this prompt end with Keima and Kiyoshi's getting together. How they could meet IRL. As Keima thinks as hard he has ever done while staring at the screen with a hardened look while a cute boy is touching themselves for him, outside of that he has a regular life and a cute gf who deeply cares about him.
Kiyoshi stays in Japan and works at a coffee shop as a pastry chef and doubles at the register while Keima and Chika go to the same university. Keima still pursues Sports Management while Chika pursues Fashion Design. The coffee shop Kiyoshi works at could be in Tokyo or somewhere that would make sense for all three, or at least Keima and Chika, to hang out in the Tokyo area because they are originally from Setagaya.
Keima and Chika visit the coffee shop a few times. But how to make Keima meet Kiyoshi without it being too... predictable? So Chika is the one who goes to the register. Keima is oblivious to the cute blond handling the register. It's only after they leave that Chika mentions a not-Japanese looking person that Keima is aware of his existence but never noticed them.
Keima cares about Kiyoshi because of his relationship to his goal, so a Westerner-looking person doesn't stay on his mind in the slightest. Their relationship is largely parasocial with Kiyoshi as the performer and Keima as the audience. There's probably a chat but little tools to make the viewer contact the performer directly.
I really couldn't think of a way to make their relationship jump from the digital to the real world without pulling some BS. Like Kiyoshi getting a mark like a hickey before a stream and the next day Keima goes to the register at the coffee shop and for some reason Kiyoshi didn't cover the hickey properly, or something happened to reveal it so that Keima notices and then he NOTICES and finally stares at Kiyoshi's face and maybe he has a panic attack afterwards. And maybe he throws up. Okay, I just made up the last bit.
Okay, Chika POV. Fucking finally. Who is Arisugawa Chika? I don't have a profile about her so nobody knows. Chika is a character I made almost a decade ago as a romantic rival to Kiyoshi when both were kids (the beef between them was strong). She's Keima's childhood friend. Her thing is that she's dedicated to Keima and is so deeply brainwashed by the idea that a man is the point of her life and she has to dedicated it to one. That one is Keima. I never wrote anything in-depth about her on any fic or doc, althought she does have a role in some TEY fics, because I didn't know how to write a femme cis het girl whose whole personality is being in love with a boy. I wonder why (sarcasm).
I want her to have an important role in the Omegaverse AU. So I made her Keima's childhood friend turned lover and future empress. Because the world is so focused on sex, what made Chika so dear to Keima, whose sexual attraction in low and sex repulsion is high, is that she understood him. She was patient and supportive. Nobody else in his life is because it's so important for him to perform sex in a really specific way.
So Chika, with the help of... certain Omega servants (which includes Kiyoshi), think of ways to make Keima (the crown prince), to enjoy sex. What ends up working is Chika taking the lead instead. This was all pretty early stages, with no dynamic between them fixed.
Then, I thought of Keima and Chika's dynamic in this name-pending modern AU. They're finally together, have been for a good while. I wanted her to a femdom because that's all I could manage writing her as but I didn't know how to make it work. Then I took into account her patience and dedication and it all made sense. In a world where Keima and Chika remain friends, despite Keima not understanding his own distaste for sexual intimacy, he's not mean towards her about it. He communicates with her. She knows his reluctance is not because he doesn't like her, nor because he's uninterested. If Keima didn't know and he wasn't going to initiate intimacy, then it fell on her to find something they both liked.
Asadsfdf, just thinking of them kissing tenderly and Keima wrapping his arms around her with care. UGHHH THEY ARE SO CUTE!!! Like, Keima doesn't dislike making out or touching, it's the skin to skin contact that he can't stand. And he doesn't know why he can't stand it.
I thought of how Chika would react. I didn't want to make her as pushy as Kiyoshi. But I also wanted her to want to sleep with Keima. So allo but not hypersexual. Which took a while to finally click.
And it just makes sense if she loves Keima more than she loves the idea of sleeping with him. She wants to be with him and getting all fussy about it would turn him off. So she does a lot of research about different ways to be intimate, and somehow arrives at her taking the lead. And when she tries it and it works (because unlike Keima and Kiyoshi on the College AU, neither has additional anxiety about sexual intimacy), oh ho ho is it glorious! Bless this Night with Timber Twimber (Twigs x Timber) doodle (SFW). Keima has so many things with common with this wolf man ehehehe.
So imma spill the whole tea. In this AU, Keima is a masochistic sub bottom and Chika is his femdom. More like, Keima is her masochistic submissive bottom AND I LOVE ITTT!
Their proper first time is so fucking cute. Chika giving him a handjob while kissing and biting Keima's neck at his vehement request with Keima facing away from her, hiding his face on his arm while they both lay in the floor. Keima communicates during the act and both enjoy it. Holy shit. Who is this guy? Who are these well-adjusted characters??!! Ah yes, and Chika also ends up cleaning him after the act because he's so embarrassed and doesn't want to look at the mess. It's more of a 'take responsibility' than and a role reversal. Plus, after Chika returns from the restroom and sees Keima's red-rimmed eyes and mildly dazed expression. Ohhh, she's so down for this. She wants to dominate him so bad. He's just so cute.
Needless to say, if the initial prompt led to Keima breaking up with Chika to be with Kiyoshi for the sole reason they helped him learn he's ace despite having a healthy relationship with a decent person, it would be really sad. I think I can stop thinking about this prompt here. I already went wayyy overboard with it.
Then I thought of Keima's dynamic between Kiyoshi and Chika. He starts as an exclusive top with Kiyoshi because that's what they wanted of him. Whereas with Chika, while it started with an experiment, he keeps the role of the bottom. In neither iteration is he sexually attracted to the other party. He can live without sex. He is intimate with them because it's what the other party wants of him, in a way. Also while he eventually learns to enjoy the act, it's never becomes a core need for him. He also has no preference in the finer details. Whatever the other person wants to do is fine with him. There is a big difference though. With Kiyoshi, he feels pressured to penetrate, but with Chika, his needs are heard and acknowledged so he doesn't do it.
Can't believe Kiyoshi's romantic rival is beating him on having a healthier romantic relationship. What the heck?! Kiyo you need to up your game!!!

So the NSFW scene on the human routes where Timber bottoms, part of his dialogue reminded me of Keima. When he says "Do whatever the hell you want" implying he's down with anything sexual in a casual, non-preferential tone. Also, Timber's weak point is also shown to be his neck and in a past roleplay with Keima, he learns that he has a collar kink. Oh to be dog-coded. So many friends to be made. Love the ace/bi-pan solidarity going on here. Happy Pride!
Now I don't know how I'm gonna write the scene in the Omegaverse AU where it's revealed Chika survived the fire. Keima and Kiyoshi's relationship has to make more sense than Keima getting back with her. Wahhh!!! More angst for Keima though, yum!
It also makes me wonder, what gender is Keima attracted to? Is he attracted to different genders? Sure, I described him as biromantic early on his creation but his feelings for Chika were super subtle and temporary in TEY verse back then. More like a crush (temporary) than romantic attraction (consistent). Think it's more interesting leaving it undecided though. The important thing is he's desired but he doesn't reciprocate. A kind and understanding master is all he wants really.
